Rangoon (Mizzima) – The Burmese Parliament will announce the name of the new vice president on August 15, and he will take the oath of office on the same day, according to Parliament officials.
Defence Services MPs with the approval of the National Defence and Security Council will select the new vice president.
The vice president will take the oath of office in the presence of the Union Assembly Speaker.
Presently, the top choice is believed to be Deputy Attorney General Tun Tun Oo; other potential candidates are Admiral Nyan Tun (Commander-in-Chief of the Navy); Lieutenant-General Thein Htay (Unon Minister for Border Affairs and Industrial Development); Lieutenant-General Ko Ko (Union Minister for Home Affairs); and General Hla Htay Win (Ministry of Defence).
