The following is a map showing the location of flooding in Burma’s Karen and Mon states for Aug. 18-22.
More than 75,000 people in Burma have been affected by flooding of hundreds of villages and large areas of farmland, the ACT Alliance of church organizations said in a statement on Thursday.
Two weeks of continuous rains have flooded large areas in six regions and caused extensive damage to crops, houses, livestock and infrastructure – including roads – hampering aid agencies' access to the affected areas, ACT Alliance said.
The worst affected areas are the Irrawaddy Delta, Pagu, Kayin, Mon and Taninthayi regions.
Lashio, the largest city in Shan State in eastern Burma, has also experienced heavy flooding from run-off from nearby mountains.
