Asean celebrated its 45th Anniversary in Jakarta on Wednesday, with a flag hoisting ceremony while children waved various flags from the 10-member states.
Dr. R.M. Marty Natalegawa, the minister for foreign affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, stressed Asean overall role in regional affairs.
Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, the Asean secretary-general said a reason for the overall success was the Asean Dialogue Partners.
“We truly appreciate the work, the contribution, and cooperation, of our dialogue partners as you have done so much” to achieve the goal and vision for the region, said the secretary-general.
