Rangoon (Mizzima) - Mizzima has learned that Burma's military regime has already chosen the members of the Election Commission, whose role will be organizing and overseeing this year's national election. Sources in Burma familiar with the Election Commission have informed Mizzima that the regime will publicly announce the names of the commission members very soon. Several retired judges from Burma's High Court (also known as the Supreme Court) have been appointed to the commission. The military has not yet publicly announced the date when the controversial election will happen.

This week the regime issued new election related laws including the Election Commission Law, the Party Registration Law, the Parliamentary Elections Law and the Assembly Elections Law.
