The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Minbu Township of Magway Region, the revolution forces seized control of the junta’s police station in Montaung Village and destroyed it on January 16. After that, the junta police have conducted tight interrogation of local people.
  • The NUG announced on Thursday night that they had burned narcotic drugs seized from the vehicles in the areas under their influence.
  • Dr. Zaw Wai Soe pledged that no matter how difficult it was to raise funds for the revolution, the NUG would never work with narcotic substances.
  • In Oattwin Township of Bago Region, there was an attack on junta troops invading the area. According to Bago Yoma People’s Defence Force, around 50 junta soldiers died.
  • The NUG sent a statement of congratulations to the Karenni National Progressive Party on their successful completion of the 15th Party Congress. They also stated that it was such an honour for Karenni people and the revolutionary journey to have democratically elected new leadership via the congress.
  • Under Ministry of Defence-NUG, 4 forces merged as a column to fight the military junta in Yinmabin District of Sagaing Region.
  • In a liberated area, the NUG met with Sagaing Federal Unit Interim Government on January 26. Reportedly, they frankly discussed the division of competency.
  • The committees representing states and federal units announced that any agreement with the military junta without the people’s desire is illegitimate and the future governments would not be responsible for them.

Revolution Activities

  • In Mizoram, India, the Minister of Home Affairs in Mizoram State said that 5,000,000 Rupees (equivalent to over 200 million MMK), had been proposed to the Indian Central Government to provide support to the displaced people in the area.
  • On Thursday, the Foreign Minister of the Philippines stated that ASEAN does not recognize the election held in Myanmar for the first time after the 2021 military coup.
  • In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack on a junta troop on mobile patrol near Mintiepin Village. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and a gun was confiscated.
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack via 40mm grenades on the junta army from Wan Bao Company, demanding money from the public.
  • In the Netherlands, Myanmar people rallied in front of the International Court of Justice to take action against the military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing for their war crimes nationwide.
  • In Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army, which has been invading the area for three months, set ablaze nearly 20 local villages. Reportedly, over 8,000 people are in need of food.
  • In Phyuu Township of Bago Region, there was a sniper attack on the junta army stationed at Sittaung River Bridge. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers including a sergeant died.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • The Karen National Union (Central) released the report on local battles for 2025. Reportedly, there were no fewer than 2,305 battles in Kawthoolei administrative area under the KNU and the junta army lost 1,974 soldiers.

The Military Commission

  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, the junta army conducted a drone attack on the school in the middle of Phowathein Village on Thursday afternoon. Reportedly, the building was damaged.
  • On Thursday night, the military junta extended the state of emergency in 63 townships. Additionally, the so-called Acting President Min Aung Hlaing continued to assign responsibility to the Commander in Chief of the Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
  • The military junta announced that the death penalty had been given to those who had raped a woman, killed her and taken away her motorbike and gold in Naypyidaw.  
  • The junta’s Deputy Minister Daw Than Than Lin said that they had been spending 20 billion MMK for the development of MSMEs and the remaining 150 billion MMK for loans to MSMEs.
  • The junta’s Prime Minister Nyo Saw inspected various parliamentary buildings and preparations to summon parliament.
  • The junta’s Deputy Minister for Commerce said that over 12,000 trademark certificates had been issued in 2025.
  • According to Myanmar Trade Promotion Team, Myanmar and India have been arranging to sign an MOU on tourism.
