The National Unity Government (NUG)
- In Magway Region, Myothit Township People’s Defence Force conducted an event on completion of their first training of junior officers.
- On the fourth anniversary of the founding of Black Leopard Column, the Ministry of Defence-NUG sent a statement.
- In Sagaing Township of Sagaing Region, a combined force of the PDFs attacked the junta army stationed in Chainggyi Village. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.
- In Indaw Township of Sagaing Region, there was an aerial bombing on the office of PDF in Mawlu. Reportedly, 7 people including 4 comrades lost their lives.
Revolution Activities
- In Salin Township of Magway Region, more than 8,000 people from 18 villages have had to flee due to the junta troops invading the area. Along with water scarcity, they have had to suffer from skin problems and they have been in urgent need of food and medicine.
- According to Institute for Strategy and Policy Myanmar on January 21, foreign investments in Myanmar has decreased by nearly four times over the period of five years since the military coup.
- In Aunglan Township of Magway Region, the junta army carried out an airstrike on Tatgone Village while local people were preparing for a wedding reception. Reportedly, 5 people including a one-year-old baby lost their lives.
- In Yangon Region, there has been a labour strike at COSTEC Garment Factory in Shwe Pyi Thar Industrial Zone due to the dismissal of the leader of the workers.
- In the west of Bhamo Town on the western bank of Ayeyarwady River in Kachin State, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on a prayer event at a funeral house in Kaunggya Village on Thursday evening. Reportedly, about 20 civilians lost their lives and over 40 others were injured.
- The Special Envoy appointed by the Philippines, the Rotating Chair of the ASEAN, stated that they are willing to continue to meet with diverse groups of Myanmar politics including revolutionary forces.
- The Foreign Minister of the Philippines stated that they do not support the election held by Myanmar military junta. According to Reuters, the Philippines also hope to continue to discuss with anti-junta groups.
- In Sagaing Region, Kyaw Htet Oo, an assistant supervisor at the junta’s prison in Kalay, has been exploiting inmates’ labour and taking bribes, according to Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar.
- In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, the junta army has been invading the area. Consequently, local people, including everyone from Kamma Town, have had to flee since the new year and they are in need of assistance.
- In Kyaukbadaung Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack on a car of Pyusawti Militia on their way back from forced conscription. Reportedly, 8 junta members died.
- In the south of Kalay in Sagaing Region, there was a mine attack on a junta car. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)
- At a backline camp, Chin Defence Force Asho carried out an event on the 3rd anniversary of their establishment.
- In Tandabin Township, Shwekyin Township and Mone Township of Bago Region, the junta army conducted attacks via fighter jets, drones and heavy artillery. According to Karen National Union (Central), 2 people lost their lives and houses were damaged.
The Military Commission
- According to political parties and local people, the military junta opened polling stations for the third phase before January 25 and made the public vote in advance in the areas of security concern in Bago Region.
- The junta’s second leader Vice-Senior General Soe Win received a delegation led by General Direk Bongkarn, Chief of the Neighbouring Countries Coordination Centre (NCCC) of the Army Operation Centre of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Army.
- The junta’s Union Election Commission stated that the elected MPs in the second phase must submit their election expense to respective sub-commissions within 30 days after the day of the announcement of their names.
- According to Myanmar Oil Traders and Business Association, 2 ships carrying 12,000 tons of edible oil imported by companies arrived at 2 ports in Yangon.
- The junta propaganda media claimed that 24 PDF members from Monywar, Sagaing, Kalay and Hommalin, who had given up fighting, were transferred back to their parents.
- In Hsipaw and Mongyai townships in northern Shan State, between January 9 and 22, 2026, the junta troops reportedly uncovered and cleared 13 drug production sites and two sites suspected of being used for online fraud and gambling. Moreover, one SSA security outpost and one permanently constructed camp located near the drug production sites were also discovered and seized.
