The National Unity Government (NUG)
- In Mandalay Region, there has been fighting between the People’s Defence Force (PDF) and the junta army invading the area for the junta’s election in Taungthar Township.
- Myanmar Permanent Representative Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that he welcomes the measures of the United Nations to take action against suspects of crimes against humanity upon their arrival in the territories of member states.
- According to the NUG, 2,326 civilians lost their lives and 4,146 others were injured due to the junta’s airstrikes from January to December 2025, with the highest number of cases in October, August and May.
Revolution Activities
- In Minbu Township and Upper Minhla Township in Magway Region, United States of Burma Army inspected local shops to see if the junta’s products are being sold. They also educated shop owners to sell the remaining products of the military junta within a month and not to sell them after that.
- Athan reported that the military junta had imposed more restrictions on the public’s freedom of expression under the law to protect the election in December while preparing for the second phase.
- In the Netherlands, members of the Myanmar community rallied to call for justice for Rohingya in front of the International Court of Justice in the Hague on Tuesday.
- According to Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar, Kyaw Lin Tun, master of Thabyay Dormitories (1) and (2) in Insein Prison, has been taking bribes and ill-treating prisoners under the excuse of rules.
- In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally of Daung Thwe Ni protested against the junta’s sham election.
- In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing via gyrocopters on Yaukthwar-I Village without any local battle.
- In Myingyan Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army invading the area has arrested local residents as human shields and burnt villages. Reportedly, thousands of people have had to flee.
Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)
- In Kyauktaw Township under the control of the Arakan Army, the junta army carried out an aerial bombing near Chaungtu (alias) Saungdone Village on Tuesday night. Reportedly, there were casualties among some prisoners of war and their families.
- In Maukme Township of Shan State, Pa-O National Organization (PNO), a militia under the junta army, set fire to a village in Dugyi Village Tract, according to Pa-O National Liberation Army.
- In Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union Brigade (3) in Bago Region, 7 conscripted soldiers from the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (53) based in Paukkaung Township defected to Karen National Defence Force (3).
The Military Commission
- Artist Thinzar Wint Kyaw and her team were charged at Kamayut Township Police Station for allegedly performing a sexy dance at an event in Yangon.
- The military junta had arranged to hold the election in Nammaphwe Village Tract in Mancy Township and Manpone Village Tract in Moemauk Township. However, they canceled the election in both townships. The junta’s Union Election Commission also revoked the announcement of U Kun San, a candidate from Union Solidarity and Development Party, as an elected MP for the Pyithu Hluttaw.
- The junta’s Minister for Home Affairs claimed that there had been legal action against 404 people under the law to protect the election until January 19 after the second phase.
- The junta propaganda newspaper mentioned that the military junta had regained full control over Thabaitgyin-Moegok Road seized by the revolutionary forces as part of Shan-Man Operation.
- The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they must combat the EAOs for carrying out battles, manufacturing illicit drugs and doing Kyar Phyant online scams.
- In Myingyan of Mandalay Region, the junta’s staff and teachers cast their advance votes for the third-phase election starting from 8:00 am on January 15.
- The junta’s Ministry of Information stated that the Elephant Museum would be opened at Man Shwe Set Taw Pagoda Festival, held for 86 days, in Minbu of Magway Region.
- Ms. Leigh Lawrie, a lawyer for Myanmar, stated at the ICJ that despite not denying violent attacks by ARSA in Myanmar, it was dishonest of Gambia to hold a stance of ignorance.
- According to the junta’s Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, two species of tea plants were recorded as natural medicinal herbs and they contain chemical compounds which could help treat various illnesses.
