-In Magway Region, 3 paramotors arrived at the junta’s Defence Equipment Factory (22) and they started with aerial assaults on nearby villages, according to the People’s Defence Force.
-U Nay Phone Latt, the spokesperson of Union Prime Minister Office-NUG, called to take caution on social media and avoid posting misleading content at the time of disputes between Myanmar people in Thailand and some Thai nationals.
-In Chauk Township of Magway Region, there was an ambush on a junta car on No. (2) Pyi Road. Reportedly, about 10 junta soldiers including a captain died.
-In Seik Phyu Township of Magway Region, the junta army has conducted aerial attacks on local villages. Consequently, Northern Seik Phyu PDF stated that local residents are not to make gatherings or play loud music.
-Ministry of Social, Labour and Humanitarian Affairs-NUG stated that fairly-strong earthquakes had hit near Nyaungtone of Ayeyarwady Region and Moenyo of Bago Region.
-A focal person of Inle PDF (1009) based in Inle Area of Southern Shan State stated that they have been fighting the military junta while building their force systematically.
Revolution Activities
-In Dibeyin Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army carried out two aerial bombings via fighter jets on the area without any battles on Monday. Reportedly, 2 people lost their lives.
-The Independent Press Council Myanmar called for five points, including to swiftly release 27 media professionals detained in prisons throughout the country without any exception.
-A few days before the final phase of the election, the Foreign Minister of Malaysia stated that the ASEAN would not send election observers to Myanmar or support the election results.
-In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Alliance of Chin Refugees met with an Australian MP for Chin refugees staying in Malaysia concerning the possibility of immigrating to Australia.
-In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally of Daung Thwe Ni protested against the junta’s sham election.
-In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, the junta troop invading the area burnt several forest areas where the displaced had been staying.
Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)
-According to the People’s Goal, 30 junta soldiers, police and militia members defected to the revolution forces and 50 others were caught as prisoners of war in the second week of January.
The Military Commission
-The Foreign Ministry of Thailand said that the Thai government had sent delegations to observe the junta’s election being held in Myanmar.
-The military junta transferred 299 Chinese citizens, who had been detained for their involvement in online scam gangs in Myawaddy Township of Karen State, back to China.
-On January 18, Thai police caught a junta captain who had escaped from Mese Prison in Karenni State.
-Mr. Christopher Staker, a lawyer for Myanmar, stated that genocide was one of the harshest accusations on a nation at the ICJ and thus, it should be filed only with caution.
-General Hla Moe, the Chair of Myanmar Athletes with Disabilities Federation attended the meeting of ASEAN Para Sports Federation Board of Governor.
-In Nyaung Shwe Township of Southern Shan State, the military junta met with departmental officials, political parties and local election commissions. Reportedly, MEVMs are also being set up in Moene Township for the third phase of the election.
-In Hlaing Thar Yar Township and Shwe Pyi Thar Township, the military junta arrested those who had been making fake NRCs and departmental documents for money.
-According to the junta’s Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, foreign investment worth over 330 million MMK entered Myanmar in the nine months of 2025-2026 fiscal year.
-U Tun Ohn, a candidate of Union Solidarity and Development Party for Tamway Township, has been campaigning for the election by selling basic food items at affordable prices.
-The Chair of the junta’s Anti-Corruption Commission received the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar in Naypyidaw.
