Myanmar-US chamber members meet Thein Sein

A delegation of the newly formed Myanmar-US Chamber of Commerce paid a courtesy call on President Thein Sein at the Mark Hotel in New York City on Thursday. William Su, president of the chamber, led the delegation.

Discussions touched on the possibility of having a MyanExpo in New York to promote Burmese products, upgrading legal services for the corporate sector with special emphasis on trade agreements, commercial contracts and international litigation and other issues.

Board members include Su, chairman of the board, Dr. Kyaw Tun, Frank Ng, Vincent Wong, Kyaw Myaing, Dr. Jonathan Chang, Patrick Wang, Edward Wong, Tin Ohn, Htin Myaing and Simon Wong, according to press release issued on Friday.

Su, a native of Burma and the current chairman of the board of the Myanmar Chinese Association, said, “The principal mission of our chamber is to foster and promote trade and commerce between Myanmar and the United States. Our chamber will be at the forefront to facilitate, promote and transact business and commerce in and with Myanmar.”

The meeting included Soe Thein, the minister at the President's office and chairman of the Myanmar Investment Commission; Wunna Maung Lwin, foreign minister; Lt. General Thein Htay, Union Minister for Border Affairs; Khin Yi, Union  Minister for Immigration and Population; and Kyaw Tin, Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union Of Myanmar to the Nations.
