Five bomb blasts in quick succession hit Muse on the Burma-China border on Saturday, according to local residents. There were no casualties.

The explosions occurred along the Union Highway near a dump area about 11:30 p.m. and were intended to frighten residents, sources said.

Muse is a trade border town in northeastern Shan State and a major crossing point to China.

In April, a bomb went off at a border checkpoint in Muse, killing an immigration officer.
