Burma will pardon unlicensed motorbikes across the country and issue them new licenses to run legally starting this week, local media said.
The new license grant will be effective until September and will cover motorcycles made in China, Thailand, India and Japan. Taxes will levied as prescribed by the Department of Internal Finance and Revenue and Department of Road Transport.
The total number of registered motor vehicles in Burma reached 2.3 million in December 2011, including 279,066 passenger cars, 64,888 trucks, 20,944 buses and 1.9 million motorcycles, according to the Road Transport Administration.
The population of Burma is around 60 million people.
