Three of her party are National League for Democracy colleagues Han Thar Myint, Soe Win and Kyaw Soe Naing who accompanied her on the same flight for her security, according to a party officer Win Htein.

Suu Kyi will stay at the Bagan Hotel River View for four days and is scheduled to return to Rangoon this coming Friday, he said.

This is her first trip to a rural area since her release from house arrest in November 2010 amidst worries over her safety.

"Security was normal. The airline also have their own security arrangements so we don't need to do anything special," said Win Htein.

About 20 NLD members from Mandalay division branch are in Bagan to greet Suu Kyi, according to Win Htein.

Suu Kyi's younger son Htein Linn, who is visiting to Burma, left Rangoon for Bagan on Sunday by car along with 14 NLD youth members.
