Mizzima awarded global JTI certificate for reliable news on Myanmar

Tokyo to Rangoon direct flights to restart

(Mizzima) – All Nippon Airways will resume regular direct flights between Tokyo and Rangoon after halting such flights for 12 years.

To serve Japanese business interests, the airline will begin direct flights as soon as possible, Eleven News quoted the airline’s president as saying.

Japanese business delegations have made frequent visits to Burma this year. On Friday,  President Thein Sein will visit Japan to promote financial investments. Japan is expected to make available substantial development loans to help promote democracy and the economy in Burma.

Recently, Japan's second largest bank – Mizuho Corporate Bank – opened a representative office in Rangoon.

At present, there are 13 foreign airlines flying into Rangoon: Air China, China Southern Airline, China Eastern Airlines, Thai Airways International, Indian Airlines, Air Asia, Taiwan region's China airlines, Silk Air, Malaysian Airlines, Bangkok Airways, Jetstar Asia, Thai Air Asia and Vietnam Airlines. Myanmar Airways International flies internationally as Burma’s national flag carrier.

First ministerial meeting held

Mizzima Myanmar held the first meeting among newly appointed ministers after a recent major cabinet reshuffle by the military in capital city of Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday morning, according to a release from the Military True News Information Team Xinhua reported. The Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, acting President U Myint Swe and nine newly appointed union ministers were present at the meeting held at the Presidential Palace, the release said. Min Aung Hlaing unveiled plans to include reopening religious buildings and pagodas, resuming domestic travel and hotel businesses as well as industries in line with COVID-19 rules and regulations, and revitalizing the country's economy.
