Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – The Burmese Parliament will begin motions and questions on Wednesday, with the completion of the bulk of its organization of committees and appointment of officers and members.

Both the Upper and Lower houses formed committees for scrutinizing the government’s obligations and treaties on Monday. Four committees have been now formed in each house, each committee comprising15 members.
Other committees include the Bill Committee, the Public Accounts Committee and the Parliament Rights (Privilege) Committee.
According to MPs, motions and questions will begin in the Upper House and the Lower House, after a recess on Tuesday, including motions affecting farmers’ rights, the formation of associations, providing health services, the release of all political prisoners and other areas.
Questions and motions have been submitted to the Parliament office since February 1.
The National Democratic Force (NDF) party has submitted a total of 30 motions and questions, including a motion to grant amnesty and free all political prisoners, NDF leader Khin Maung Swe told Mizzima.
Shan Nationalities Development Party (SNDP) MP Sai Hsaung Hsi told Mizzima that the SNDP has submitted a motion on farmland issues, to provide free medical service to low income people and to establishing a simplified procedure in forming private associations and organizations.
In the Upper House, discussions of motions will include communication issues, improvement of roads, education, health services and regional development issues.
Lawmakers said other parties were preparing motions and questions, but waiting to see what has already been submitted.
