Mizzima awarded global JTI certificate for reliable news on Myanmar

Press conference on daring Kunchankone robbery

Rangoon (Mizzima) -In a rare instance, a Press conference will be held on June 4 at the Police Force headquarters in Rangoon regarding the armed robbery in which three people were killed and 13 injured in Kunchankone Township, a police source said.

In a daring robbery, five robbers hurled grenades and fired indiscriminately at villagers of Dayellu village, Kunchankone Township on May 16 night. Three villagers died and 13 were injured in the barbaric attack.

The robbers were beating up a farmer at gunpoint and demanding money, when the villagers came to know. They surrounded the house in an attempt to stop the raiders. The robbers retaliated by firing indiscriminately and lobbing grenades into the crowd before escaping.

Villagers said later that three of the robbers wore Burmese Army uniforms.

The Press conference will be held at the headquarters of the Police Force at the corner of Sayarsan Road, near Yankin Centre, at 1 p.m. tomorrow.
