Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – A suspected electrical fire tore for six hours through the biggest market in the city of Monywa this morning, gutting almost all of its 200 shops, a source said.
The blaze at New Chindwin Yadana Market started at around 3 a.m. and lasted until around 9 a.m. The fire at the New Chindwin Yadana Market, in which clothes and foods are sold, was believed to have started from blown electrical wiring.

The market comprised two buildings, east, where the fire broke out, and west. The western booths adjacent to Bogyoke Road were spared even though there were separated only by a narrow footpath.

“The shop owners couldn’t retrieve their goods because the fire also burned at the entrances,” a witness who lives near the market said. “The fire broke out after midnight. Almost everything was burned.”
