Mizzima awarded global JTI certificate for reliable news on Myanmar

UN Special Envoy Quintana arrives in Burma

Chiang Mai (Mizzima) - United Nations Special Envoy on Human Rights Affairs of Burma, Thomas Quintana, arrived in Rangoon this morning, the UN office in the former capital said.

UN officials greeted Quintana at 9 a.m on Monday at Mingalardon International Airport. He is on a 5 day visit to meet UNDP staff.

Quintana will stay in Burma until February 19 and he has requested the Burmese military government to allow him to meet detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi and also to allow him to visit northern Arakan State.
