The Central Committee for Development of SMEs is to be headed by President Thein Sein and his two Vice-Presidents. The Action Committee for Development of SMEs will be led by the two Vice-Presidents.

The function of the Central Committee is to enact laws, rules and procedures and to promote the development of these SMEs in conjunction with the government departments and private banks which inject investment into them, the statement said.

The committees will also work on linking organizations at home and abroad; educating local SMEs; and the training and nurturing of human resources in the country, it said.

“Furthermore, these committees will work at linking markets broadly; encouraging the development of markets; creating job opportunities; getting financial aid and technological aid; and coordinating with the concerned authorities and organizations at home and abroad for the development of these SMEs,” the statement said.
