A three-day job fair with nearly 100 local and foreign companies organized by Myanmar Young Entrepreneurs Association (Myea) ended Sunday in Rangoon.

The job fair connected job seekers with businesses in oil and gas, engineering, food products, information and technology (IT), manufacturing, industry, service and distribution, trading and sectors.

There are 137 licensed overseas employment service agencies and 14 local employment service agencies in Burma, according to the Labor Department.

Burma is now practicing a job contract system between employers and employees in accord with international standards. The newly approved Labor Organization Law, which took effect on March 9, covers protecting employees' rights as well as the right to form labor associations and unions.

The law was enacted with the assistance of the International Labor Organization.
