Response on Commentary – “ NCGUB’s shopping or political tour in Indonesia?”
By Heng Khur, 4 August 2009

The commentary writer obviously lacks knowledge on matters of funds for the pro-democracy movement.

The person also merely wanted to belittle the legitimate organizations by saying ‘a gathering of handful of activists’. This writer did not do his homework to find out the process, where extensive consultations has been gone into for more than half-a year among various groups and individuals.

My 20-years experience tells me there is none in the movement who are well-to-do enough to go for shopping while participating in the conferences. The guy it also seems did not do research as to what NCGUB or others have been doing for the last two decades by accusing that it was the only one. The statement: ‘All governments and bodies including UN have to express the policy or position in the form of statements. There are actions that follow after the expression. E.g. SPDC (the military government) issued the statement before the roadmap was in action. NLD (the National League for Democracy) issued a series of statements before it walked out of the National Conventions. The UNSC has to issue statements before it act or intervenes.
