Military junta forces from the 207th Infantry Regiment and the 310th Artillery Regiment withdrew from several villages in Kyaikto Township on the morning of 5 March leaving behind a trail of looted homes and destroyed property.

“They retreated yesterday morning. They also looted other areas and destroyed the remaining property so it could not be used. These guys are extremely ruthless,” a source on the ground said.

A Military Commission column advanced from Theinzayat town toward the villages of Sit Kwin, Moke Ka Maut, Kha Rae, Kyauk Yay Twin and Kyauk Pon Gyi along the Sittaung River in Kyaikto Township, near the Mon–Bago border, deploying troops across the villages.

The column included troops from the Military Commission’s 207th Infantry Regiment and the 310th Artillery Regiment based in Theinzayat town.

Frequent clashes erupted between the military commission column and revolutionary forces based in the surrounding area during the offensive, resulting in casualties on both sides.

Additionally, four residents of Moke Ka Maut village were killed during clashes and arrests carried out by Military Commission troops.
