The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The junta army raided and set ablaze the camp of Yinmabin District Battalion (35) under the NUG. Reportedly, the force lost its belongings including motorcycles.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, the People’s Defence Force COBRA ONE conducted a rocket attack on junta troops on their arrival at a village of Pyusawti Militia.
  • In Salin Township, the junta army, which had stationed in Siswe Village for three months, retreated due to an attack by the revolutionary forces.
  • On the 38th Chin Revolution Day, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw expressed their respect and honour for Chin ethnic leaders and Chin people who have been committed to building a federal democratic union to uproot the military dictatorship.
  • In Nyaung-U District of Mandalay Region, four Local Defence Forces, which have been fighting the military junta, were reformed as the Local Alliance of Bagan-NyaungU.

Revolution Activities

  • Due to the global fuel crisis and domestic control measures, Myanmar airlines have allowed only 10 kg of checked baggage for each flight passenger and the prices of air tickets have increased by three times.  
  • The Director of the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) stated that Chinese Communist Party has been associated with cyber fraud activities (Kyar Phyant) in Southeast Asia nations including Myanmar.
  • According to the People’s Goal, 9 junta soldiers and police surrendered and 2 others were caught as prisoners of war in the second week of March.
  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, a local revolution force, under supervision of the PDF, has been fighting the military junta.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union Brigade (3), 3 new soldiers conscripted by force for the junta army defected to Karen National Liberation Army Battalion (9).
  • Chin National Front (CNF) called on the entire population of Chin adult men to serve the Chin revolution out of a sense of national duty.

The Military Commission

  • The junta’s Regional Minister U Htay Aung and U Kyaw Kyaw Soe were appointed to be the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker of Yangon Regional Hluttaw respectively.
  • U Aung Kyaw Moe, a regional MP of the Union Solidarity and Development Party from Meiktila Township Constituency (1), was appointed to be the Speaker of Mandalay Regional Hluttaw and U Kyaw Myint representing Yamethin Township Constituency (1) to be the Deputy Speaker.
  • During the session of Pyitaungsu Hluttaw on Friday, it was announced that meetings would be conducted for Hluttaw groups to propose the candidates for Vice Presidents and the President would be selected on March 30.
  • According to the junta’s Committee on Import, Storage and Distribution of Fuel Oil, domestic prices have increased significantly; from 780MMK to over 900MMK per litre of petrol and from over 1,180MMK to 1,290MMK per litre of diesel.
  • The Chair, the Vice Chair and the Secretary of Yangon Region Gold Entrepreneurs Association (YGEA) were each sentenced to 3 years in prison along with fines for allegedly manipulating the gold market for personal gain by purchasing, stockpiling and reselling gold bars.
  • The junta’s Investment Commission stated that foreign investment capitals would be accepted in Chinese Yuan as well.
  • The first day of the third regular session of the Magway Hluttaw was conducted at the Hluttaw Building in Magway. Reportedly, the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and the Patron were appointed respectively for the Regional Hluttaw.
