The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Magway Federal Unit Hluttaw announced that they had discussed with the Interim Government of Magway Federal Unit about future plans.
  • In Salin Township of Magway Region, a combination of People’s Defence Forces conducted a surprise attack on junta troops which had stationed in Tanyaung Village for about three months, on their way out after repairing the powerlines to the junta’s Defence Equipment Factory (21). Reportedly, some junta members lost their limbs and retreated.
  • In Nyaunglebin Township of Bago Region, a combined force of Karen National Union and the PDFs rescued over 300 people captured by the junta army as hostages. Reportedly, they provided healthcare and said words of encouragement to the released and the displaced, according to Ministry of Health-NUG.
  • Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that Myanmar has become a happy home for transnational crimes, posing a direct threat to regional security.
  • Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun asserted that to take revenge on the women involved in the revolution, the junta’s sexual and gender-based violence has increased as a systematically-calculated weapon after the military coup in Myanmar.
  • According to Ministry of Human Rights-NUG, the focal person of human rights led educational activities for the public to protect them from the junta’s aerial assaults in Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region.

Revolution Activities

  • On Wednesday, Justice for Myanmar called on foreign governments to reject the Myanmar military junta and any organizations that have arisen out of their sham election.
  • Ukraine rejected allegations against six of its citizens detained in India, saying there is no evidence linking them to unlawful activity, as Indian authorities investigate a broader case tied to conflict zones in Myanmar.
  • In Sagaing Region, strike committees and local people carried out movements on Wednesday for the prevention of the junta’s aerial assaults and against the military dictatorship.
  • In Minkin Township of Sagaing Region, there was a clash between Pyusawti Militia under the military junta and Student’s Revolutionary Force on a regular patrol. Reportedly, a Pyusawti member was caught alive.
  • In Mae Sot, Thailand, CDM artists, who have committed their art to the public, conducted the revolution Jatpwe (theatre play) on Wednesday night.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magway Region, the revolution forces conducted rocket attacks on 2 local villages of Pyusawti Militia, namely Shinmakan and Western Magyikan, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  • In Madayar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army carried out attacks via drone and heavy artillery on local villages. Reportedly, people’s houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In Pauk Township of Magway Region, there were attacks for two consecutive days on a convoy on their way to send rations to the junta’s Defence Equipment Factory (24). Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and a gun was confiscated.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union Brigade (3), the junta troop invading the area opened fire, killing a child aged 2 and leaving the parents injured.
  • According to the KNU (Central), Saw El Mesei aged 27, a soldier conscripted by force for the junta army, defected to the Karen National Liberation Army Battalion (9).

The Military Commission

  • The junta propaganda media claimed that there was an event to welcome over 500 members of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army, Arakan Army and the PDF who had returned to the legal fold, at the junta’s Mid-Regional Command in Mandalay Palace Compound. Reportedly, they were handed back to their guardians.
  • The junta leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with Commander-in-Chief of Royal Thai Armed Forces General Ukris Boontanondha in Naypyidaw. Reportedly, they discussed the matters such as increasing cooperation between the two militaries, maintaining regional and border area peace and stability, and preventing illegal trade.
  • In Salin Township of Magway Region, a local Pyusawti group raided a gambling event organized by another Pyusawti group in Chay Thay Oo Village. Reportedly, no fewer than 15 people, including Pyusawti members, were arrested.
  • On March 17, the junta’s National Defence and Security Council enacted Myanmar Passport Law, further tightening the restrictions on the passport application of Myanmar citizens.
  • The junta’s Minister for Border and Ethnic Affairs said that they had been helping ethnic people to fully enjoy their rights in accordance with the law.
  • According to the junta’s Ministry of Industry, a discussion was organized in regard to cultivating of elephant foot yam (Konjac), and making value-added products such as Shirataki vermicelli, manufacturing and marketing.
  • In the statement to the 52nd Mon State Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing mentioned that a union government led by the new President would emerge in the near future.
  • The military junta enacted the Fifth Amendment of the Union Judiciary Law, in which judges are no longer required to recite the oath or make the pledge in daily trials.
