The National Unity Government (NUG)
- On the 5th anniversary of the establishment of Mandalay People’s Defence Force, the resistance group stated that they would be reformed as the Special Movement Regiment under the Military Headquarters-NUG and they would continue to serve the revolution.
- Mdy- PDF pledged that they would fight until the military dictatorship is uprooted.
- In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, a captain from the junta army, which had been burning people’s houses, died in a local battle and weapons were confiscated.
- Under Special Regional Command of the PDF, 3 new battalions were established.
- At the time of the military junta trying to resume the Myitsone Dam Project in Kachin State, there was an earthquake with Richter Scale 5.5 near Moemauk and the public felt it noticeably, according to the NUG.
Revolution Activities
- Spring Revolution Database warned that the military junta might conduct arrests again by using the Person Scrutinization and Monitoring System – PSMS.
- In Pale Township of Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. Reportedly, they have also taken away people’s belongings in some local villages.
- In Ponnagyun Township of Rakhine State, the junta army carried out an aerial bombing via fighter jet on Yongu Village. Reportedly, 17 people including children lost their lives and more than 20 others were injured.
- In Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region, 10 people lost their lives in the junta’s airstrike on Shwe Kyaungkan Village.
- In an interview with Thai PBS, the Foreign Minister of the Philippines, the current rotating Chair of the ASEAN, stated that many member states had discussed at the previous ASEAN Foreign Ministerial Meeting to reflect and review the ASEAN’s approach to the 5-Point Consensus regarding Myanmar’s affairs.
- According to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners, 27 people, including 16 women, lost their lives in 2026 due to the military junta and they were identified by name.
- In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack on a junta convoy on Monywa-Mandalay Road. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.
Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)
- On Wednesday, the Interim Executive Council of Karenni State announced that arsenic levels were significantly high in the middle and lower parts of the Salween River.
- In Thayetchaung Township under Karen National Union (Myeik-Dawei District), the junta army conducted an aerial bombing, killing a civilian and leaving one other injured.
- In Thanphyu Zayat Township of Mon State, there was an attack on a junta troop contingent of about 150 soldiers invading near Aung Thabyay Village on the morning of February 23. According to the Mon State Revolutionary Force, 5 junta soldiers died.
The Military Commission
- The second junta leader Soe Win said that the Hluttaw would be convened after the junta’s election and the selection of President would be carried out in early April.
- The Foreign Minister of Thailand stated that Thailand did not support or verify the junta’s election in Myanmar and that they urged Myanmar to continue on the path of negotiation and reconciliation.
- In Sagaing Region, over 100 students from Htet Private High School were not allowed to take exams as they had not been enrolled in the registry. However, they were issued identification cards for the exams. Regarding the case, District Education Officer, who had issued those cards, would be investigated under the law pertaining to government employees.
- The junta’s Minister U Tin Aung San claimed that they had signed a partnership with private businesses to carry out activities in old oil fields.
- On Tuesday, the junta’s Central Bank sold 2.506 million USD to importers of edible oil.
- The junta’s Central Bank has been arranging to issue loans to MSMEs with their digital payment history record as pawn property.
- Myanmar’s Ambassador to Canada met with the new Thai Ambassador and discussed the matter of Myanmar workers in Thailand.
- The junta’s Chief Minister U Tint Lwin said that over 8,000 houses had been damaged due to strong winds in Magway Region over the period of five years.
