Spring Revolution Daily News for 22 February 2026

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • During a press conference on Saturday, the summary report was released regarding findings of the investigation on the complaint against Daw Kyi Pyar, Permanent Secretary of Union Prime Minister Office-NUG, and her husband. Union Minister Dr. Zaw Wai Soe stated that she had been suspended from her position.
  • Even amidst continuous military pressure via air and on the ground, Thayet District People’s Defence Force (4) managed to complete their basic military training Batch (12).
  • On the 78th Chin National Day, Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La called to keep implementing the areas under the revolutionary forces to be fully liberated areas.

Revolution Activities

  • In Insein Prison, Yangon Region, 7 inmates sentenced to death have allegedly had to face the intentional ill-treatment of the prison authorities on a daily basis for three months now.
  • In Taungthar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army set fire to 2 local villages. They also took away 7 residents of Chonegyi Village as human shields.
  • In Taungthar Township, the junta army raided Letthekyin Village and set ablaze houses. Reportedly, local people have had to flee due to their continuous invasion in the area.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, there was a guerrilla attack on junta troops. According to the Union Liberation Front, 3 junta soldiers died and a gun was confiscated.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Bago Region, 10 conscripted soldiers from the junta army defected to Karen National Union.
  • Colonel Nawbu, the spokesperson of Kachin Independence Army, stated that the KIA has no policy to conduct attacks targeting passenger flights and that it is difficult to confirm who was responsible in a recent incident at Myitkyina Airport as there are several anti-junta organizations and the use of drones and mines all over the place.
  • In Chin State, CDF Hakha conducted an attack via 3 FPV Suicide Drones on the event of Chin National Day being held in front of the junta’s District Office.
  • The Chair of Interim Chin National Consultative Council stated that they would continue to carry out operations to seize towns in Chin State.
  • The Arakan Army stated that a new history would be set between Chin and Rakhine nationals. They also called for the establishment of Arakan State with national equality and activities for local development.

The Military Commission

  • In the north of Natoegyi Township in Mandalay Region, the junta army blew up an underground hospital.
  • In Kachin State, there was a drone attack on a passenger flight at Myitkyina Airport. Reportedly, the airport will be closed for three months.
  • In Hakha of Chin State, there was an attack via suicidal drones at the event on Chin National Day when the junta’s Minister for Border and Ethnic Affairs was present. Consequently, the event was cancelled.
  • After Bo Nagar, the leader of the Burma National Revolutionary Army, had surrendered, 5 more BNRA members gave up arms, according to the junta propaganda media.
  • In Pyin Oo Lwin Township of Mandalay Region, the opening ceremony to resume the project of Yadanarbone Cybercity will be conducted on February 22. The project had been granted to Aung Pyae Son, the son of the junta leader. Reportedly, Min Aung Hlaing will be present at the event.
  • On Friday, it was mentioned on the website of the junta’s Ministry of Health that e-cigarettes, e-shisha and related accessories, which had been widely used in the country, were banned under the Essential Supplies and Services Law.
  • A Myanmar citizen can file complaints against the violations of human rights contained in the Constitution, domestic law and international and regional human rights treaties to Myanmar National Human Rights Commission on behalf of themselves, for others or for groups.
  • Students who will take the 2026 matriculation exam from March 11 to 17 are to withdraw their Identity Cards on Monday, 23 February.
  • A delegation of the junta’s Union Ministers, led by the Chair of the junta’s Electricity and Energy Development Commission, met with local people in Myitkyina and discussed the Ayeyarwady Myitsone Dam Project, including compensation for those living in the project area.
