Mizzima awarded global JTI certificate for reliable news on Myanmar

Myanmar police go high tech

The Myanmar police force are to be equipped with the latest technology to meet international standards, the chief of police announced at the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House of Parliament) session in Naypyitaw on March 4.

“We have requested that the Criminal Investigation Department be provided ultraviolet lights, tracers, infrared machines, automatic handprint machines, signal jammers and X-ray machines,” said Kyaw Kyaw Tun, the chief of police.

A range of high-tech police and security equipment was bought by the government in the 2011-12 fiscal year.

The Myanmar Police Force has been a member of the International Police Force since 1954 and the ASEAN police force since 1998.

"Together with International Police Force members and the International Central Union, we have cooperated in eliminating fake drugs, military operations and other crimes,” said Kyaw Kyaw Tun.
