Mizzima awarded global JTI certificate for reliable news on Myanmar

3 Kachin civilians killed in Laiza mortar strike

Three Kachin civilians were killed and five were wounded in Laiza on Monday morning when an artillery strike by Burmese government forces hit a house in the residential area of Hka Kyang Quarter in Laiza.

At least one child was among the dead, local sources told Mizzima.

Fighter jets were also spotted flying over the city, as well as over the town of Mai Ja Yang and the IDP camps at Je Yang and Hpung Lum Yang, though no air strikes have been reported.
