(Mizzima) – Writer Zoë West will talk about her book “Nowhere To Be Home,” a collection of oral history narratives from survivors of Burma's violence, at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Sangdee Gallery in Chiang Mai.
West and co-editor Maggie Lemere spent nearly two years traveling to five different countries to collect stories that expose the realities of life under Burma’s military regime.
West, assistant editor Emily Hong, and special guests including one of the men whose story is included will read from the new book and discuss the process of bringing it to print.
In addition, Sally Kantar will talk about “Plants That Grew In The Fire,” an anthology written by young activists from Shan State. Two of the book’s authors, Moon On and Hsen Zin, will share their stories and experiences of seeking refuge in Thailand.
The talks are presented by The Best Friend Library located at 302/2 Nimmanhaemin Road, Soi 13. For more information, e-mail chiangmai@thebestfriend.org
