New Delhi (Mizzima) - A leather goods factory in Rangoon’s suburban township of Hlaing caught fire on Thursday morning, but the township fire brigade said the damage was minimal.
According to an official of the Hlaing Township Fire Brigade, the fire raged for a brief 10 minutes, and was extinguished after eight fire engines arrived on the scene.
“The fire started from the sparks of a grinding stone. The sparks hit the chimney of the factory and the roof caught fire. But the damage was minimal,” the official said.
The government-owned factory, located at ward (12) of Hlaing Township, mainly produces leather goods for export to foreign countries.
