“We are excited to announce the signing of three new hotels in Myanmar—the first of which will open this year—marking Accor’s return to Myanmar,” said Michael Issenberg, Chairman and CEO for Accor Asia-Pacific.

Two of the hotels will be under the Novotel brand, while the Naypyitaw hotel will be part of the group's luxury MGallery collection.

“With Myanmar expecting a strong increase in international arrivals this year, we look forward to being a part of the development of the country’s tourism infrastructure,” said Robert Murray, CEO for Accor South East and North East Asia.

Accor currently has more than 3,500 hotels across 92 countries.

Hilton Worldwide and Best Western International Inc. have both announced that they will enter the Myanmar hotel market in the near future.
