ACO Investment Group have announced that they will invest US$700 million in Myanmar over the coming year.
The New York-based firm this year aims to invest $200 million in Yangon International Airport and plans to make a $500 million bid for two telecommunications licenses as part of a new global infrastructure fund, said Hari Achuthan, one of the firm's founders, to Bloomberg.
"This is a thrilling opportunity to help advance the progress Myanmar has made over the past couple years by enhancing prospects for economic investments, and ensuring connectivity for Myanmar with ASEAN and the world," said Kurt Campbell, a member of the ACO consortium, in a release last week.
Myanmar's new foreign investment law was passed in November 2012 and essentially allows joint venture operations between foreigners and local citizens, governments or organizations.
