“His eyesight was getting dim so he had the operation at the hospital,” Ohn Kyaing said.

Tin Oo, 83, will probably return to the NLD office on Tuesday. Previously, he had cataract surgery on his left eye in Singapore.

On May 30, 2003, Tin Oo, was traveling with the caravan of Aung San Suu Kyi, the NLD leader, when it was attacked in the northern village of Depayin by a government-sponsored mob, murdering and wounding many NLD supporters. Tin Oo was taken into detention along with Aung San Suu Kyi and was initially held in Kalay Prison in northwestern Burma. In February 2004 he was brought back to his home in Rangoon, where he was held under house arrest. The junta extended his house arrest in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

NLD central executive committee member Win Tin, 82, who was discharged from Asia Tawwin Hospital in Rangoon on July 16, attended the party’s central committee meeting on Monday morning.

Win Tin was admitted to the hospital for fatigue and tests.
