The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Acting President of the NUG Duwa Lashi La welcomed the meeting between the leaders of Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) to resolve the conflict peacefully in Northern Shan State. He also called to focus on the interests of the revolution.
  • Based in Mandalay Region, Thunderbird Local Defence Force was reformed as Aungmye Tharzan People’s Defence Force. They announced the change of their name and logo on Wednesday.
  • The Unit Force under Magway Federal Unit Interim Government will reportedly follow the guidance from Ministry of Defence-NUG.
  • According to Myaing Township PDF, the Unit Force under Magway Federal Unit Interim Government completed their training Batch (1) in a liberated area on March 10.
  • On Monday, Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (Union Parliament) conducted the 9th meeting. Reportedly, Yangon Federal Unit Hluttaw sent a congratulatory statement there.
  • Ayeyarwady PDF Battalion (3) under Strategic Force (29) received bulletproof jackets and helmets, purchased with the support from the public.

Revolution Activities

  • In the west of Kawlin Township in Sagaing Region, about 100 huts of displaced people collapsed due to strong winds.
  • In the northern part of Gantgaw Township in Magway Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on Kannga Village without any battles. Consequently, 2 displaced people, a mother and her child, lost their lives.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally carried out a movement on Wednesday for the unity of the Three Brotherhood Alliance.
  • In Salin Township of Magway Region, there was an attack via heavy weapons on the junta army which had stationed for about three months. According to Ayar Brother Force LPDF, there were a large number of casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, a local rally distributed leaflets for public movements, which play a vital role in the revolution.
  • The Assistance Association for Political Prisoners stated that up to 281 civilians had lost their lives due to the military junta from January 1 to March 17 this year. They added that the victims were identifiable by name.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

  • In Ledo Township under the control of the Karen National Union, the junta’s Regiment Ka-Ma-Ya (307) fired heavy artillery on the night of March 13, killing 4 people and leaving a 3-month-old baby injured.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, there has been ongoing fighting between the junta soldiers who fled Winwa Camp and a combined force of Karen National Liberation Army.

The Military Commission

  • After the junta’s sham election, former Major General Aung Linn Dway was appointed to be the Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw on Wednesday.
  • In Aunglan Township of Magway Region, the junta’s Defence Equipment Factory (15) fired heavy weapons, which landed in Indawthar Village. Reportedly, people’s houses were set on fire.
  • In the western part of Nattalin Township in Bago Region, the junta army raided Falambin Village, murdered 3 local residents and took away 5 others.
  • According to the junta’s Ministry of Electricity, the power supply will be in rotation starting from March 18 due to declining production and increasing demand.
  • In the first session of Amyotha Hluttaw held after the junta’s sham election, Jeng Phang Naw Taung, the junta’s Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Minister for Hotel and Tourism, was appointed to be Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw without any rivals.
  • The military junta enacted the Myanmar Passport Law, further tightening restrictions on citizens’ right to travel abroad. The legislation bars passport issuance to those whose citizenship has been revoked, individuals deemed a threat to national security, and those released under Section 401(1) of the Code of Criminal Procedure whose designated terms remain incomplete, as well as those currently serving prison sentences.
  • In the first regular session of the third Amyotha Hluttaw, Daw Dwebu, the MP from Kachin State Constituency (5), was appointed to be the Patron.
  • The junta’s Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe said that Myanmar has established diplomatic relations with 127 countries so far.
