Spring Revolution Daily News for 9 February 2026

The National Unity Government (NUG)

-Ministry of Defence-NUG met with commanders of the People’s Defence Forces and decided to intensify military momentum for the end battle of the revolution.

-In Putao Township of Kachin State, the PDF has been carrying out clearance operations in the areas of the junta army.

-In Magway Region, a conscripted soldier aged 18 brought weapons and defected to Yezagyo Township PDF.

-According to Monywa People’s Security Force, going into and out of Monywa town during the nighttime has been temporarily banned.

Revolution Activities

-In Brisbane, Australia, a show was conducted for the movie – ‘Pyone Pyone Lay” directed by Ko Pauk, along with a fundraising fair for the revolution.

-In Beelin Township of Mon State, the junta army has invaded local villages and taken away public’s belongings. Consequently, thousands of civilians have had to flee.

-In Hlaing Township of Yangon Region, two young people, detained for conscription, jumped off the fourth floor of the junta’s administration office on Sabei Chan (1) Street.

-According to Black Falcon, there were casualties among no fewer than 10 junta soldiers including a captain and 2 guns were confiscated in a local battle near the junta’s Northwest Regional Command.

-On its 5th anniversary, General Strike Coordination Body stated that the ultimate goal of the Spring Revolution is the victory for oppressed people. They added that fake peace, terrorists and mediation would not be considered at all before reaching the goal and that they would keep moving forward in accordance with the commitments contained in the Federal Democracy Charter.

-In Natoegyi Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army set fire to Myawaddy Village and Kyungdaung Wetlu Village. Reportedly, local people had to run away.

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)

-In Falam Township of Chin State, there were local battles against the junta army invading the area. According to Chinland Council Defence Ministry, over 200 junta soldiers, including 9 officers, died.

-Kachin Independence Organization issued a statement, prohibiting gold-mining along the Ayeyarwady River in Shweku Township of Kachin State.

-Karen National Union Mutraw District announced that there had been 126 battles in Hpapun District of Karen State and 34 junta soldiers had died in January.

-In Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region, a soldier from the junta’s Ka-La-Ya (404), along with a gun, defected to the KNU Myeik-Dawei District.

The Military Commission

-On Saturday, Union Election Commission issued the list of 110 military representatives who will attend the Pyithu Hluttaw after the junta’s election.

-In the 2025 Academy Award Ceremony, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing expressed thanks to the artists who had helped with successful implementation of the election.

-The junta leader said that it is necessary for political stakeholders and the public to understand the 2008 Constitution as a lifeline of Myanmar’s democratic transformation, which must be followed without fail.

-The military junta awarded the victorious athletes who had competed in world-class sports competitions, the 33rd SEA Games and the 13th ASEAN Para Games.
