The National Unity Government (NUG)
- On Saturday, the NUG stated that the death of Dr. Sein Win, former Prime Minister of National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB) is a great loss for Myanmar in the fight for democracy.
- In the statement on the 79th Shan State Day, the NUG called on the revolutionary forces and the people in Shan State to prioritize unity and fight the common enemy together.
- Under No. (1) Military Regional Command of the NUG, Kalay District People’s Defence Force (3) celebrated the third anniversary of their establishment.
- Committee Representing Sagaing Regional Hluttaw stated that in addition to the executive and judiciary pillars, they would try their best and move forward together with the revolutionary people.
- In the statement on the 79th Shan State Day, Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw sent best wishes for the entire public in Shan State to create freedom, self-administration and self-determination while fighting for the end of the military dictatorship.
- Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations U Kyaw Moe Tun stated that the military junta has been abusing humanitarian assistance as a weapon and the public are in urgent need to be protected from the junta’s sexual violence.
Revolution Activities
- In Maryland, USA, the family carried out an alms donation at a monastery for the loss of Dr. Sein Win, former Prime Minister of National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma (NCGUB).
- In Myaing Township of Magway Region, the junta army conducted an aerial bombing on Ywar Thit Gyi Village. Reportedly, 4 people including a woman were seriously injured.
- To mark the awarding of the Honourary Doctor of Public Administration (DPA honoris causa) by Yangon University to the junta leader, the Special Graduation Dinner was held at the Yangon University Convocation Hall, where such events had never been held before. According to CDM teachers, it is another violation of the value and standard of Yangon University, which has been preserved for ages.
- In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, there was a guerrilla attack on junta troops near the junta’s Northwest Regional Command, according to Bamar Liberation Democratic Front.
- According to the People’s Goal, up to 64 junta soldiers, police and militia members joined the public and 115 others were caught in battles in January 2026.
Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)
- A combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the PDFs has been fighting the junta’s Sa-Ba-Ka (1) based in Hpapun District to seize it.
- A conscripted soldier from the junta army defected to the KNLA, along with weapons.
- In the statement on the 79th Shan State Day, the Chair of Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) stated that despite progress in some sectors of the country in the administration of the National League for Democracy government, the military junta seized power with an excuse of electoral fraud. The ongoing crisis in the country is due to ego, pride and greed of a leader, and the failure to follow Panglong Agreement against the people’s will.
- In Muu Township under Karen National Union, the junta army has continued their attacks via airstrike, artillery and drone. Reportedly, there were casualties among civilians including children.
The Military Commission
- The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that armed conflicts in the country occur due to narrow-minded political views. He also called on the EAOs in Shan State to have peace talks.
- In the junta’s 2025-2026 election, candidates automatically became the MPs in 31 constituencies as they had no rival candidates. Reportedly, it was the largest number throughout the election history in Myanmar.
- The junta leader urged the EAOs and other resistance forces in Shan State to give up arms, have peace talks and contribute to the national development.
- After Yangon-Dala Bridge was opened, YBS bus service will run to Dala Township.
- On Friday, a coordination meeting was held for the successful implementation of the third Mon State Hluttaw Assembly.
- The junta’s Minister for Electricity claimed that despite an increase in electricity bill rates, it is creating a good atmosphere for manufacturing with strong energy security.
- On Friday, graduation ceremonies for People’s Military Service Training 19 were held at respective regional military commands.
- On Friday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing visited Sitagu Eye Hospital and comforted the patients in North Dagon Township of Yangon Region.
