Spring Revolution Daily News for 5 February 2026

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • In Sagaing Region, Mawlight District People’s Defence Force provided financial support in honour of the comrades who lost their lives. 
  • In Ngazun Township of Mandalay Region, there was an attack via two 107mm grenades on a junta police station and staff housing. According to Amarapura PDF, 7 junta members died. 
  • The Ministry of Social, Labour and Humanitarian Affairs-NUG stated that relatively strong earthquakes had hit Aungmyay Thazan Township of Mandalay Region and Yenangyaung Township of Magway Region. 
  • In a press conference, it was reported that the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and the NUG would be dissolved when the transitional constitution comes into existence. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Minhla Township of Magway Region, there were attacks for two consecutive days on a junta troop contingent of around 90 soldiers in 3 military trucks invading near Linke Area. According to the United States of Burma Army, there were casualties among no fewer than 20 junta members. 
  • At Dawei River Mouth, an armed group fired at a passenger speedboat going from Myeik to Dawei on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, 6 people, including a child and a woman, were injured. 
  • In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted an airstrike via paramotors on the huts of fire victims in a local monastery compound on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, a child aged 14 and his father lost their lives and the boy’s mother may have to have her leg amputated. 
  • In Ye-U of Sagaing Region, the revolution forces attacked 2 junta stations in town. 
  • Inle PDF (1009) denied that one of their comrades had returned to the legal fold in an event mentioned by the junta propaganda media. 
  • In Ye Township of Mon State, the revolution forces attacked the junta’s Ka-Ma-Ya (591) based in Kyaung Village. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and another one was injured. 
  • Burma Lawyers Council stated that the Union Consultative Council, which would be established by the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, is just a plan to lengthen the military dictatorship and thus, it is necessary for the entire public not to accept it. 
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, Hein Htet Aung, who had been recruiting the youth for the junta’s conscription, was shot dead near Taungsun Village. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • In Falam Township of Chin State, a combined force of Chin National Army (CAN) attacked a large number of junta soldiers invading the area. Reportedly, 36 junta members including a colonel died and 33 weapons were confiscated along with ammunitions. 
  • In Lashio Township of Northern Shan State, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army seized the farmland of local people in Manse Village Tract without public’s consent and dug for gold. Regarding it, there was a protest and 36 protesters were beaten and arrested. 
  • The Second Commander in Chief of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) stated that the revolution had been lengthy and had not reached the goal because there had not yet been full cooperation. 

The Military Commission 

  • During the trip of the Russian delegation led by Russian Security Council Secretary Mr. Sergei Shoigu, a Russian national, who had been detained for online scam operations, was transferred back to his home country for humanity and friendship between the two countries. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing met with Russian Security Council Secretary Mr. Sergei Shoigu on Tuesday. 
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that a majority of the public were not able to work for their own personal growth and thus, they were in poverty. 
  • The junta leader claimed that there was no electoral fraud in their 2025 election. 
  • The junta’s National Defence and Security Council announced that the law for the Union Consultative Council had been adopted. 
  • After being out of public sight for a few days, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing received a congratulatory statement from Russian President on successful completion of the election during the meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary. 
  • On Tuesday, the military junta amended the Law Protecting the Privacy and Security of Citizens. 
  • The Russian delegation saluted at the Mausoleum in Naypyidaw.  
  • The junta leader said that the country’s GDP would improve only when income could be generated in agriculture and livestock sectors and that only then, it would be possible to fulfil the needs of government employees more fully. 
  • In the middle-school level starting from June next academic year, the subjects of agriculture, industry and livestock will be taught. Therefore, the junta’s Minister for Education called for drawing up the curriculum in time. 
  • In Maiye Township of Northern Shan State, 330 Chinese nationals, involved in an online scam operation, were arrested in Hightpu Village, along with related equipment. 
  • On Tuesday, the junta’s Union Election Commission announced the number of candidates elected from each party in the 2025 general election
  • According to the junta’s Deputy Minister for Science and Technology, the shows of industrial businesses based on local agricultural and livestock raw materials and the use of AI for the development of MSMEs would be included at the Union-level MSME Expo held in Naypyidaw.
