Spring Revolution Daily News for 3 February 2026

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG stated that 2026 is an important turning point for Myanmar and it is necessary to stop violence beyond reassuring the ASEAN 5-Point Consensus
  • In Thayet Township of Magway Region, the District Regiment (4) conducted an attack on the junta’s No. (12) Defence Equipment Factory
  • Yangon Regional People’s Defence Force Southern District Zone (1) Force (5) has been recruiting eligible new members to serve the revolution. 
  • There was an attack via 14 75MM rockets at No. (12) Defence Equipment Factory (Thayet), which has been producing 120MM, 60MM and 40MM grenades for the junta army. 
  • In Magway Region, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy from Seik Phyu to Salin to send rations and lamp posts. According to Pakkoku District Force (4), 6 junta soldiers died and 2 others defected to them. 
  • On Sunday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs-NUG stated that they would cooperate positively with the ASEAN Chair, the ASEAN Troika and the Special Envoy of the ASEAN to realize the common goals of the NUG. 
  • According to Ministry of Human Rights-NUG, the junta’s violence has been deteriorating, instead of deescalating, over the period of five years. 
  • At the entrance to Sagaing in Sagaing Region, a police officer Aung Myo Oo, his wife and another policeman Aung Myint Oo, who have been helping license-less cars, were shot dead, according to a focal person of Minkun Area People’s Security Force. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Kalay Township of Sagaing Region, 15 out of the women inmates, who peacefully protested in Mawlight Prison, are being kept in solitary confinement. 
  • In Minkin Township of Sagaing Region, there was an attack on junta troops invading from Kan Village to Pyinbinmaw Village. The junta soldiers had to retreat, according to the Students’ Revolutionary Force. 
  • On January 31, Institute of Chin Affairs-ICA stated that 1,183 Chin ethnic people had lost their lives in the attacks following the military coup in Myanmar
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, there has been ongoing fighting. On Monday morning, a heavy weapon shell landed on a local school and exploded. Reportedly, a child was injured in the incident. 
  • In Tokyo, Japan, there was a rally against the Myanmar military dictatorship on the 5th year of the coup near the junta’s Embassy. Reportedly, over 800 Myanmar people joined it. 
  • In Taiwan, Myanmar people and supporters of Myanmar carried out a protest movement on the 5th year of the military coup in Myanmar. 
  • On the 5th year of the military coup on February 1, over 600 Myanmar nationals rallied in a protest in front of London Parliament. 
  • In Kalay Prison of Sagaing Region, more than 100 women inmates, including political prisoners, sang “Blood Oath” in unison. Reportedly, at least 15 of them have been kept in solitary confinement, according to Political Prisoners’ Network Myanmar
  • In Busan, South Korea, Myanmar and Korean people protested against the military coup in Myanmar. 
  • Volker Türk, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that cases of the human rights violations and violence had been deteriorating in Myanmar owing to the junta’s election. 
  • In Chauk Township of Magway Region, there was an attack on a junta troop contingent which had invaded the area. Reportedly, 27 junta soldiers including a captain died whereas the junta army arrested and killed 2 local people. 
  • On the 5th year of the coup in Myanmar, the members of ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights and board members called on the military junta to respect the Myanmar people’s desire. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • According to the Kokang, the trainees of Cadar School in Special Area (1) paid honour and cleaned Yanlone Kyaik Mausoleum in memory of the revolution martyrs. 

The Military Commission 

  • China executed another four people, including a son of the Kokang leader under the junta army, for their online scam operation. 
  • On the 5th year of the coup, the military junta made donation at Than Thay Kat Kyaw Pagoda in Amarapura Township of Mandalay Region. 
  • The junta’s Minister for Electricity said that despite more power supply, the electricity bill rate for household use would not change and industries would be able to use power more than before. 
  • A delegation led by Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. U Soe Ko Ko from the Myanmar Embassy in Manila attended the 29th Meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers and related meetings in Cebu, Philippines from 29 to 30 January 2026. 
  • The junta’s Chief Minister of Ayeyarwady Region said that the support of banks plays a crucial role in the regional economic development. 
  • The junta’s Minister for Information oversight the preparations for Academy Award Ceremony.
