Spring Revolution Daily News for 27 February 2026

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The NUG’s Representative Office in Japan stated that a hearing would be conducted at the Office of Japanese MPs regarding the real situation of Myanmar over the period of five years during the military coup and how the country can be turned into a true federal democracy
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG sent a statement that Mandalay People’s Defence Force had earned public’s trust and reliance due to their combat skills. 
  • The Commander of Yinmabin District Battalion (28) stated that the PDF would not arrest or imprison the comrades of Burma National Revolutionary Army who defect to them. He added that the PDF would give those BNRA members pocket money and send them home. 
  • Ministry of Judiciary Affairs-NUG conducted workshops and training on conducting negotiation activities under the leadership of courts. 
  • Ministry of Defence-NUG stated that the elevation of Mdy PDF to Special Mobile Division is a key driving force towards the ultimate goal of the Spring Revolution

Revolution Activities 

  • In the United States, a Myanmar refugee went missing after he was released from jail and transferred to border patrol. Reportedly, he was found dead by Buffalo Police Department on Tuesday. 
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, a Grade (9) student was taken away by the junta army five days ago. Until now, he has been out of contact and his family has been concerned. 
  • In Ye Township of Mon State, there was heavy fighting between the revolution forces and the junta army invading near Aung Thabyay Village. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died. 
  • In Taungthar Township of Mandalay Region, the junta troop arrested 3 people, set fire to Nanty Village and conducted airstrikes via paramotors on other local villages. 
  • In Kyunghla Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army conducted an aerial attack via gyrocopter on Thaphanseik Dam on Wednesday. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs) 

  • According to the Kachin Independence Army, counterfeit money of 10,000MMK notes has been spreading in Hpakant Township of Kachin State. They added that action would be taken against those involved in it. 
  • The Commander in Chief of the Arakan Army sent the first congratulatory statement to the new Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, stating that an opportunity has arisen to build friendly relations between Rakhine and Bangladesh. 
  • In Nyaunglebin District under Karen National Union, the junta army has continued attacks via drone and heavy weapons on civilian targets. Reportedly, there have been casualties among the public. 
  • In Perkone Township of Southern Shan State, a large number of the junta soldiers and Pa-O National Organizations invaded Larmaukla Village and Lweyin Mingalar Village. Therefore, MBPDF warned local people to take caution. 
  • In Muu Township and Ledo Township, the junta armed forces attacked civilian targets intentionally. The KNU reported that 5 people were injured and 7 houses were damaged. 

The Military Commission 

  • The military junta arrested and imprisoned those who criticized the junta’s election under the law to protect the election. However, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed on Wednesday that there had been no significant objection to their election. 
  • The Judge in Lawngtlai District of Mizoram State in India decided to suspend border trade routes with Chin State and Rakhine State of Myanmar for two months. However, it was re-ordered to open the routes 10 days later on February 25. 
  • According to Reuters, U Khin Yi was reportedly proposed to be the Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw. 
  • The military junta has been arranging to take action against business people who have not repaid the COVID-19 Impact Relief loans with 1% interest rate issued during the National League for Democracy government in April 2020. 
  • The junta’s Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand met with Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Royal Thai Armed Forces in Bangkok. Reportedly, they discussed bilateral cooperation to tackle smog pollution and forest fire across the border. 
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that it is necessary to build and strengthen unity within the army due to the attacks via social media to defame the army.
