Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met with the Secretary-General of Burma’s ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) U Htay Oo on Tuesday in Beijing, vowing closer political relaitons.

"China has always handled its relations with Myanmar from a strategic perspective," Xi told Htay Oo at the Great Hall of the People, according to an article by the Xinhua news agency.

China is ready to work closely with Burma to fulfill the goals set in the joint statement that established  a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, which was created during Burmese President Thein Sein's China visit to China  in May last year.

The vice president said cementing political trust and win-win cooperation between both sides is not only in the fundamental interests of both countries, but will also contribute to development and stability in the region, said Xinhua.

Xi urged the ruling parties of both countries to make joint efforts for deeper bilateral ties in the coming years.

Htay Oo said Burma will maintain friendly policies toward China, adding that the USDP hopes to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Communist Party of China (CPC).
