Mizzima awarded global JTI certificate for reliable news on Myanmar

Burma to host AFC group matches

New Delhi (Mizzima) - Burma for the first time will host part of the group stage matches of the AFC Presidents Cup in 2010, as Burmese side Yadanabon FC made qualified for the regional tournament.

“We received notice from the AFC just days ago that we will host some of the matches,” Soe Moe, information in-charge of the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF), told Mizzima.

Notification of the matches to take place in Burma was received on March 8th.

In hosting the matches, the AFC, MFF and Yadanabon FC will split expenses equally while the AFC will provide international referees and linesmen.

The matches will be played at Rangoon’s Thuwana Stadium. On May 9th, the first match between Turkmenistan’s HTTU Asgabat and Bhutan’s Druk Star will be played. On May 11th, Yadanabon FC, champions of the 2009 Myanmar National League, will play Druk Star, followed by the host’s match with Asgabat on May 13th.
