New Delhi (Mizzima) – The Burmese junta’s Liaison Minister Aung Kyi met opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi at a government guest house on Wednesday.

Sources in Rangoon said the eighth meeting, between Aung San Suu Kyi and Aung Kyi, began at about 1 p.m. (local time) at the Seinle Kanthar Government Guest House and lasted 25 minutes.

Aung Kyi last met the Nobel Peace Laureate on Saturday.

While details of both the meetings are still not avialable, Aung San Suu Kyi’s party spokesperson Nyan Win earlier told Mizzima that the previous meeting was to discuss the Nobel Peace Laureate’s proposal to junta supremo Snr. Gen Than Shwe.

In late September, the detained opposition leader sent a proposal to Than Shwe offering to help ease western sanctions. In order to do so, she had requested Than Shwe to allow her to meet representatives of US, European Union and Australia.
