Chiang Mai (Mizzima) – The office of the Directorate of Revenue will be finally shifted to Burma’s new jungle capital Naypyitaw, from its present location in the country’s commercial hub Rangoon.

A directorate official said the shifting has begun with several of the section offices including stamp, lottery and finance already moving to the new capital in central Burma.

“Our section has not moved yet. We will continue to remain but others are beginning to move. We have all together eight sections in the department. All of them will shift. Some have begun moving. But I don’t know when the final date for shifting is,” the official said.

The official added that several employees of the department living in Rangoon are disgruntled as it is inconvenient for them to work in Naypyitaw.

The Burmese military regime in November 2005 started ordering ministerial offices to move to the new capital without any prior notification. However, some ministries have kept their branch offices in Rangoon.
