Rangoon – A 50-year old man was killed when a car driven by the son of Burma’s Air Chief Marshall Lt. Gen Myat Hein met with an accident with a jeep on May 6 in Rangoon’s Bahan Township, eyewitnesses said.

The accident occurred on the corner of Kanpat Street and Wunkabar Street in Bahan Township, when Lt. Gen Myat Hein’s son was trying to overtake the jeep.

Lt. Gen Myat Hein’s son lost control of the Toyota Mark2 car and hit the elderly man, killing him instantly, witnesses said.

“The saloon car was overtaking the jeep. It hit the jeep, went out of control climbing the pavement and hit the man. There was a lot of blood. The blood on the sidewalk was not washed off and remained until the next day,” an eyewitness told Mizzima.

The eyewitness said the two men in the jeep did not sustain serious injuries. An official from the Defence Ministry, who knows Lt. Gen Myat Hein, identified the son of Myat Hein as Arkar Wai Yan Hein.
