Burmese defence chief off to Thailand

(Mizzima) – Burma’s commander in chief of defence services, Min Aung Hlaing, left Naypyitaw on Monday to pay a goodwill visit to Thailand.

General Min Aung Hlaing, 54, served as acting joint chief of staff of the Army, Navy and Air Force before he was promoted from commander of No. 2 Bureau of Special Operations of Defence Services.

As a major general, he served as the commander of the Triangle Command. In 2009, and he led negotiations with cease-fire groups in association with former Military Affairs Security Commandant Lieutenant General Ye Myint.
